Anyone else feeling like they’re busting their ass at the gym but don’t have the muscles to show for it? 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of the way I look! To be honest I’ve never felt better and I get such a buzz from going to the gym!

Although I can’t help but wonder whether a little bit of help (in the protein department) will enable me to tone up my abs and booty more! 

I have been going to the gym regularly for at least 2 years now and until recently, I had never considered using protein shakes.

I thought it was the cheats way and worried that it wouldn’t be healthy. As I (like a lot of people do) confused them with steroid’s and worried protein shakes would be potentially harmful to my body!

Protein shakes are used after working out in order to give your body a chance to recover. Protein powder contains all of the essential amino acids to enable the healing of damaged muscles. Not to be confused with steroids (as I did) which impact on your hormones. 

In essence, I want to see if protein shakes will make any difference to me. Whether that’s the way I feel in general (energy throughout the day), if they allow me to push harder at the gym (as my muscles have recovered) and/ or whether I see any physical differences in the way I look!

I plan to try out these products for 4 weeks and let you know how I get on in a follow up post! 


So far I have used the BCAA drink and Slim body shake on Friday, Saturday and today (Tuesday). 

I am loving the BCAA I feel like it perks me up during my workouts a LOT more than water! Although it is VERY sweet! I really struggled to drink it at 6:30am on the first morning! So next time I plan to try another flavour! 

Unfortunately, I’m also not to keen on the taste and also the texture of the protein shake! Although I think this is largely my fault for going for a weird flavour, in hindsight I should have kept it simple with vanilla or chocolate! 

On Friday I had the shake for breakfast. Although, by 11am I was super hungry, and so I don’t plan on replacing meals with it again. Instead I hope to drink it as a snack throughout the day! 

So, that’s where I’m at with my first time protein experience at the moment. I’ll be back In 4 weeks time to let you know my progress!
